Public and Private Courses
At TAPTA, we offer both public and private courses to cater to a wide range of participants. Public courses are open to all individuals, providing an inclusive learning environment for anyone interested in mental health first aid. Private courses are tailored for businesses and organisations, exclusively available to their team members, ensuring focused and customised training. If you have a suitable space for the course, we can arrange to conduct the course there. While we recommend completing the course in its traditional format, we understand that not all organisations will have the time to accommodate this schedule, and we are committed to providing alternatives that best fit your needs. Thus, in private courses, we offer flexible scheduling options for the course: two consecutive days, two non-consecutive days within a two-week period, or four 3-hour sessions within a two-week period.
Who Can Enrol
Public courses are open to all interested adults, empowering parents, professionals, social workers, and other concerned adults to better support individuals in our communities. Early intervention plays a crucial role in minimising risks and fulfilling our duty of care. No previous education or professional experience is required, similar to enrolling in a traditional physical first aid course. However, given the intense nature of the material, this course may not be suitable for individuals who are currently not feeling emotionally resilient. Other than this consideration, any interested adult is welcome to participate.
Accreditation & CPD Points
Upon completing the course, participants must take a brief online exam consisting of approximately 15 open-book questions. Successfully passing the exam grants participants a Mental Health First Aiders Certificate, valid for three years. To renew the certificate, participants must undertake a short refresher course available through TAPTA and other MHFA course providers. Participants who choose not to undertake the exam will still receive a certificate of completion and be awarded CPD points. These points can typically be claimed as part of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements across various professional bodies. It is advisable to confirm with your respective industry body whether these points are applicable to your field.
